About DAQIQ
We work to improve quality of life for people living with diabetes through individualised care, built on data analytics, artificial intelligence and lived experience.
DAQIQ · دقيق reads two ways. In Arabic, دقيق (daqīq) means precise, the word behind precision medicine, الطب الدقيق. In English, it stands for Diabetes Analytics for Quality of life through Individualised care in Qatar.

We call it DAQIQ care: care that is shaped around each person, their data and their life.
What we set out to do
Six long-term objectives guide everything we do.
Understand lives over time
Follow people living with diabetes in Qatar over time, in their own words, so that our evidence reflects real lives.
Advance analytics and AI for individualised care
Develop trustworthy analytics and AI that help prevent, detect and manage diabetes and its complications, validated on data from Qatar.
Improve quality of life
Turn research into tools, guides and support that help people live well with diabetes, through DAQIQ Living and our partners.
Train researchers
Train the next generation of researchers through master’s and PhD projects across health, computing and the sciences.
Share what we learn
Publish openly, give talks and create clinician-reviewed resources, free for everyone.
Grow a network and sustain the work
Connect clinicians, organisations, researchers and volunteers across Qatar and the region, and secure the funding to keep the program growing.

How a year at DAQIQ works
Our calendar follows the academic year, so each new group of students brings fresh questions to our long-term studies.
Welcome
September
New students join, choose their research question and are added to an ethics-approved study.
Listen
October to January
Data collection: we reach new participants and follow up with people from earlier years.
Analyse
February to March
Students analyse the data and defend their theses.
Share
April to August
We publish papers, give talks, add new DAQIQ Living resources, apply for funding and report back to participants.
Participants consent once and can choose to be contacted again in later years. Their answers are stored securely at HBKU and analysed without names.
